The Hanging Cemetery of Baghdad

 

Nannette Jackowski and Ricardo de Ostos are the principals of NaJa & deOstos, a London-based studio developed as a platform for experimental architecture. Together they are the authors of The Hanging Cemetery of Baghdad (SpringerWienNewYork, 2007). Their projects have been exhibited at the 6th International Architecture Biennale in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2005; the Summer Exhibition 2006 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London; and the London Festival of Architecture 2008 among others. They are design tutors of an undergraduate unit at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.

Jackowski is a former project architect at Wilkinson Eyre Architects and has also worked for Zaha Hadid in London. She studied architecture at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences in Germany and received a master of architecture degree at the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, England under the direction of Peter Cook.

De Ostos is an architect who has worked for Peter Cook, Future Systems, and Foster and Partners. He studied architecture and urban planning at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and also holds a master of architecture degree from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, England. De Ostos has taught at Lund University in Sweden and was the curator of the Brazilian Pavilion for the London Festival of Architecture 2008.
