Born in England and raised in Brazil, Ricardo de Ostos studied architecture and urban planning at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte. He completed a post-graduate architectural design course with distinction at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London.
Ricardo is a professional architect having worked for Peter Cook, Future Systems and Foster + Partners. He has taught at Lund University/Sweden and teaches an undergraduate unit at the AA School of Architecture in London.
He is co-founder of NaJa & deOstos, a studio developed as a platform for experimental architecture. Their projects have been exhibited at the 6th São Paulo International Architecture Biennale and the 2006 Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, London. They are the authors of The Hanging Cemetery of Baghdad published by Springer WienNewYork in 2007 (editor RIEA / Lebbeus Woods) and are currently working on the next installment of Pamphlet Architecture by Princeton Architectural Press, supervised by Steven Holl amongst others.
