The winning entrance of the student competition: S.P.D. Spatial Protest Device can now be seen below.
Congratulations again to the students Danielle Faria Mendes, Igor Bernardes Almenida, Ligia Machado Pinto and their coordinating tutor Profa. Dra. Juliana Torres de Miranda from UFMG.
The jury had the following comments about the winning entrance:
Challenging device –not sure that it would work- but it is by far the most inventive project.
Graphically adequate, the model could be improved.
I will go away with my mind challenged by the re-iterative question: Can sound be manipulated so that human character resonates upon hardware?
Sir Peter Cook
I personally enjoyed the inventiveness of the scheme and the provocative attitude that is behind the design.
“There is no longer any clarity as to where wants to go, there is only one other force, perhaps even more instinctive and intuitive, spurring the movement on: shouts.”
This sentence summarizes the thrust of the project. Well done.
Marcos Cruz
Interesting proposal in its irreverent approach to the brief, in its engagement with noise and movement (rather than with the purely visual), in its exploration of a negative dimensions, both in the physical and metaphorical sense.
Ana Paula Araujo
More on the other competition entrances and news about all exhibitors will follow soon.
20 days to go for the exhibition opening!
